I recently picked up A Jane Austen Christmas, by Carlo Devito. It cites the yuletide traditions of England, during Jane’s lifetime, and includes other historical tidbits on the development of those traditions. It’s super interesting, so to celebrate the season here, I’ve decided to include weekly excerpts from A.J.A.C.
So, check back here, every Friday until Christmas for a new installment; a new tidbit to illuminate the themes and inspirations for our own, modern holiday traditions.
“Filled with the remarkable wit and insight of one of the world’s most cherished authors, A Jane Austen Christmas gives readers insight into Austen’s life through little-known stories about how she and her family celebrated the treasured holiday season.”
